The Intro Series: Becoming comfortable with the basics of wine
Intro Series: Wine Tastings & Basic Practices 6pm
A series of casual class gatherings in a social, community table type of setting. The topics rotate, focusing on a key subject related to wine. The 'Intro Series' aims at making everyone comfortable with wine. A guided course that is fueled by table talk. Talk the talk with lessons you can apply to your every day dinner, social party or even searching for wine for simply an evening at home.
In my opinion, wine is a level of adult-ing that sneaks up on you after you admit that closing bars and tapping kegs isn't what gets you going any longer. But wine can be intimidating. I mean, what other beverage can you get that ranges in prices from a few dollars to a couple hundred and how do we even begin to understand basic principals? This is a fruit, a grape that makes a mind bending amount of variations with all these unspoken rules and cues that if you follow correctly, can put you in some sort of society for wine but followed to strictly can label you a wine snob - yikes!
Let's back up. Let's learn to enjoy and understand wine. The Intro Series aims at exactly that and we start our series with the first step; the basics of wine and wine tastings. Classes will be held at a community table set with our favorite meats and cheese, paired with notes and guided conversation pieces. Not only are you learning the steps to tasting but we'll secretly practicing our wine manners and discuss which rules are to be respected and which to straight up ditch.
